Norman Thelwell has long been regarded as the unofficial artist of the British countryside and is thought to be the most popular cartoonist in Britain since the Second World War. He commented on many aspects of human behaviour but is most synonymous with plucky young girls and their fat little ponies.
The universal appeal of these endearing characters has helped to ensure Thelwell’s continuing popularity. His hilarious illustrations are immediately familiar and evoke a sense of nostalgia and relatability which transcends generations.
Thelwell produced thousands of cartoons over the course of his career, providing us with a comprehensive back catalogue of images to suit just about any product or campaign. We currently have over 25 official licensees offering a wide range of products that feature iconic Thelwell images, including; clothing, stationary, greetings cards, art prints, homewares, toys and more.
The Thelwell style with its children, ponies and countryside themes is ideally suited to farm attractions and we are keen to use this heritage brand to support rural British businesses.
